In a great result for women on the Sunshine Coast with an interest in golf, Mount Coolum Golf Club is waiving their Joining Fee for new female Members through until 30th September 2022 – which amounts to a saving of up to $500.
In keeping with the aims of Golf Australia’s Vision 2025, the Club’s Board resolved to waive the joining fees for new female Members, in a bid to entice those thinking about getting into the game to take the plunge. The current Joining Fee is $500 – so it is a considerable saving.
Mount Coolum’s President Alan Westacott said “We have a really good golf course that is getting better all the time. The Club has seen really strong growth in Membership over the past few years, and this initiative aims to accelerate that growth amongst female Members. Our Wednesday competition for ladies usually has 60-75 players, but there is certainly room for more. The women can also play in all of our other competition days – Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, and even in the Club’s Vets on Mondays”.
The Club’s General Manager – Sharon Purnell added “Our male membership base has grown by 22% over the past 2 years, while the female growth has only been at about one-third of that rate, so we are just really trying to restore the balance. Our golf course is not long and it’s easy-walking, but still offers a real challenge to established players. With six par 3 holes, there is some relief for the less-experienced players”.
This promotion will also be supported by some introductory clinics run by the Club’s Professional Steve Jenkins and Assistant Professional TJ King in July. Bookings for this program can be made through the Pro-Shop on 5446 3125. Steve and TJ also run a cadets program on Friday afternoons for girls and boys.
Mount Coolum has a couple of windows on their timesheets throughout the week that are ideally suited to beginner golfers, where they can take those first steps on their journey in golf without the pressure of groups in front and behind
Current female members are also able to upgrade to Full Membership without paying any further joining fees.
All categories of membership are currently open, and eligible for the “NO JOINING FEE FOR WOMEN” promotion. The Club is also accepting new male Members in all categories.
