This Saturday sees the replay of the final round of the Weekend Triple Challenge.
Roy Forbes currently leads from Brendan Cassidy, Dain Stone and Ian Eaton. The leading lady (after adjustment of scores to reflect the difference in course rating) is Judy Portway.
With the vs Par format it is still anyone’s trophy to win. Good luck to all players.

Our Grounds and Course Staff have performed a few scheduled maintenance activities to the course (in particular the Greens) yesterday and as such the Greens will be mildly affected over the next few days.
Brendan – our Course Superintendent – and his grounds team have had the course in immaculate condition of late and we have recieved great feedback from members and visitors to our club on the course and the play of the greens.
We have made a change to our website page which now shows Latest Course Information underneath the picture and introduction. Brendan will update this area with any activities which might have an affect on the course or cause any interruptions to play.

After being rescheduled due to poor weather, the MCGC Women’s Opening Day was held last Wednesday 1st February. The weather was finally kind to us and a terrific day was had with over 80 players in the field. It was a great turnout and even better that most stayed around for lunch and presentations in the clubhouse. Well done Ladies!
Saturday 4th February was the Women’s Monthly Medal, which was won by Heather Gibbie with a Nett 71. Heather is the winner of the inaugural sponsorship by AMCAL Pharmacy – Coolum Village. Thanks to Amcal and L’Oreal for their support.
NCLZ Weekend Pennant started Sunday 5th February. Our Mount Coolum Ladies were at Tewantin Noosa where they had an inspiring victory over Gympie, winning 4 matches and drawing one.
Well done a great start to the year.
Heather Chalmers (Women’s Captain) and Nathanial Fuller (MCGC Golf Operations)
Due to the wet course conditions and subsequent reduced field for the Vs Par Event held on Saturday 28th January, this event has been rescheduled and will be held on Saturday 25th February 2012.
As this event originally formed Round 2 of the Triple Challenge Trophy, the rescheduled event on 25th February will now be the 3rd and final round of the Triple Challenge Trophy.
The Single Stroke event (also Monthly Medal) to be held on Saturday 4th February will now be Round 2 of the Triple Challenge.
Nathanial Fuller (Golf Operations) & Scott Mayes (Captain)
Mostly good results in the opening round of Men’s Pennant played under difficult conditions today.
A Grade defeated Horton Park (at Peregian Springs) 4-3. With match wins for Dave Schultz, Nigel Smyly and Max Barker – Glenn Esden and Captain Scott Mitchell squared their matches.
B Grade were washed out after Gympie GC called off their host day due to wet course conditions.
Our Juniors performed strongly despite going down to Peregian Springs at Peregian. Check out Team Manager Barry Degenhardt‘s report in the JUNIOR NEWS section later this week.
Finally, our old boys, the Senior team defeated Tewantin Noosa at Caloundra 4/3. Strong wins were recorded by Mike Whelan, Peter Borham, Dave Cush; with the pick of the wins going to Team Captain, Doug Conn, winning 2&1 against a player with 4-shot lower handicap in the scratch match play section of the draw.
Well done to all our representatives.
Next Matches – BYE for all adult grades due to SC&SBDGA (District) AGM at Caloundra. Next Sunday (5th February), Juniors play Nambour at Horton Park at 9:15.
